Justyn Rees Larcombe

Justyn is the son of the writer and speaker Jennifer Rees Larcombe and grandson of the evangelist Tom Rees. After a highly successful career in the British Army Justyn Rees Larcombe had an equally glittering and well-rewarded career in the City. He had everything. Stunningly successful in the world of insurance, he was being fast tracked for further promotion in a global company. He had wealth, a big house, a Porsche, a Mercedes. He had a beautiful wife and three sons. He lost it all through an addiction to online gambling, blowing three quarters of a million pounds in three years. Realising he could fall no further, he turned back to Christ, turned his back on gambling and, in the space of two years, found incredible recovery and restoration.

Justyn Rees Larcombe, One Day at a Time

TAILS I LOSE

Justyn Rees Larcombe had it all. Around his beautiful home were the mementoes of success the Sword of Honour awarded by the Queen when he left Sandhurst; the silver photo frames with the pictures of his much-loved wife and family; the rooms full of rewards of a City career. But Justyn had a parallel life: he gambled. Gradually he allowed it to take over everything, getting through a staggering three quarters of a million pounds some his own money, some his wife s, and some belonging to the company he worked for. The crunch came; he lost his job, his wife left him, taking his sons; and anything that could be sold was and then gambled away again. One day, he had no alternative but to go back to his mother s home and start again.

ONE DAY AT A TIME

Through testimonial, anecdote and scriptural reference, this book allows the reader to share in recovery from secret habits of all kinds. Covering subjects such as alcohol, food, gambling, sex and smoking, Justyn Rees Larcombe demonstrates how to avoid the traps of the modern world. Justyn Rees Larcombe’s account of gambling addiction – three years of destruction followed by three years of restoration – is interwoven throughout the book. The chapters are short and thematic, ending with helpful questions and exercises.
