The Recovery Course Conference: Igniting a Passion for Addiction Ministry
Equipping churches, chaplaincies, and ministry teams with faith-based strategies for addiction recovery.
The Recovery Course is thrilled to announce TRC25, a one-day conference taking place on Saturday, 5 April 2025, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM BST at St George the Martyr Church, London. Designed to equip anyone involved in addiction recovery ministry, including churches, chaplaincies, and support networks, with practical tools and insights, this event will empower attendees to better support those battling addiction.
This year’s conference is built around two powerful themes:
"Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire." – St. Catherine of Siena
“God comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, He brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so we can be there for that person just as God was there for us.” – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
“This is more than a conference—it’s a chance to reignite your vision and purpose and leave you inspired and ready to make a greater impact in the lives of those seeking recovery from addiction.”
Nigel Skelsey, Founder, The Recovery Course

Testimony: A Journey from Addiction to Freedom
Scott Tuohy – Testimony Speaker
Scott grew up in North London, losing his mother at age two and being raised by a violent, alcoholic father. At 11, he took up boxing and, by 16, was fighting for money. A chance encounter led him to Hollywood, where he trained at Legends MMA gym and entered the celebrity party scene, meeting stars like Mike Tyson, Will Smith, and P Diddy.
He later joined The Lions Den in Arizona, the world’s top MMA training center, earning his place by defeating 10 fighters in succession. But his career was derailed by drugs. Returning to the UK with his wife Sel, two unexpected spiritual experiences changed their lives.
Scott, now a scaffolding business owner, helps run Alpha in Prison at HMP Pentonville, where he and Sel are pioneering the Prison Recovery Course.
