Session 3 – Powerless

Step 1: We admitted we were powerless over our addiction - that our lives had become unmanageable

In Session 3, we take a deeper look at the reality of powerlessness and why lasting recovery cannot be achieved through willpower alone. Building on the foundations of Step 1, this session explores the courage required to face our pain, acknowledge our limitations, and recognise that true change comes from a power greater than ourselves. Together, we examine the attitudes and behaviours that keep us trapped, including pride, fear, resentment, and self-reliance. As we begin to surrender control and trust God with our lives, we discover the hope, freedom, and transformation that become possible when we stop struggling alone.

“But I need something more! For if I know the law but still can't keep it, and if the power of sin within me keeps sabotaging my best intentions, I obviously need help! I realise that I don't have what it takes. I can will it, but I can't do it. I decide to do good, but I don't really do it; I decide not to do bad, but then I do it anyway.
